As 91Classical, Nashville Public Radio’s classical music service is adding several regular programming elements to each weekday’s playlists.
Breakfast Baroque
- Weekday mornings at 8:06, get your daily routine off to a light start.
Local Lunchtime
- The first musical selection of each noon hour will feature Midstate musicians or composers. Our in-studio performance show, Live in Studio C, will serve as an expanded Local Lunchtime on Tuesdays.
5:00 Waltz
- Just after the NPR newscast (so technically at 5:06), a bright, lively moment to mark the end of the workday.
Evening Features (at 6:06 each weeknight)
Monday: Musical Journey
- A “musical vacation” with selections tied to specific places.
Tuesday: Happy Hour
- A classical “two-for-one” deal of a pair of pieces related in some way.
Wednesday: Classical Crossroads
- Music that blurs the line between classical and other genres.
Thursday: Live in Studio C Rebroadcast
- If you missed Tuesday’s live performance, here’s another chance to hear the Midstate musicians who visited 91Classical this week.
Friday: Friday Flick
- Themes from movie scores and classical music that has been used prominently in films.
91Classical will continue to air brief, nonmusical features in the morning hours:
- Birdnote: 6:30 am
- Writer’s Almanac: 7:30 am
- Stardate: 8:30 am
- Composer’s Datebook: 9:30 am
The regular weekly concert programs will continue as well:

- Symphony Cast: airing through the rest of the year at 8:00 pm on Sundays
- New York Philharmonic: 8:00 pm on Wednesdays
- Metropolitan Opera: the Met’s broadcast season begins in December and finishes in early May with performances airing at noon on Saturdays
In addition, performances by the Nashville Opera will continue to air as standalone specials several times each year.
