Franklin-based theater company Studio Tenn announced next season’s shows today. The lineup features the return of an original work and new productions of stories audiences may find familiar.

September 7-17, 2017: The Battle of Franklin: A Tale of a House Divided

• A. S. Peterson wrote this dramatization of the desperate, bloody conflict that overwhelmed the Williamson County town with carnage (and ignited interpersonal conflicts) at the end of the Civil War. It’s not a musical in the traditional sense, but songs from the era are woven into the production. Studio Tenn commissioned the play and performed its world premiere last year, to great acclaim.

December 1-17, 2017: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

• For their holiday show, the company will follow the Pevensy children through C. S. Lewis’s first Narnia novel, where the White Witch has made it so the magical land is trapped in an eternal winter with no Christmas.

February 15-25, 2018: Doubt, A Parable

• Studio Tenn builds on an earlier staged reading of the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning drama, this time giving it a fully-staged production.

May 10-20, 2018: Grease

• The season ends with the cult classic musical about adolescent rebellion and romance circa 1950-something, set in an all-American high school.

In previous years, Studio Tenn has produced its shows in a variety of Midstate venues. The 2017-18 season will be staged entirely in the company’s home space, Jamison Theater at the Factory in Franklin.
