Members of Nashville’s ALIAS Chamber Ensemble play works by two Baroque era favorites. The performers are Zeneba Bowers, violin; Matt Walker, cello; Kevin Bate, cello; Jessica Dunnavant, baroque flute and Francis Perry, theorbo.
First, Zeneba , Matt and Francis perform a Trio Sonata in D minor by Alessandro Stradella (1639-1682).
Zeneba discusses the instruments and the challenges of using period instrumentation. She also mentions their upcoming trip to Ireland.
New to Nashville, Kevin Bate is introduced on his first Studio C appearance.
The Paris Quartet No. 1 in G major by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) follows featuring Zeneba Bowers, violin; Matt Walker, cello; Kevin Bate, cello; Jessica Dunnavant , baroque flute and Francis Perry, theorbo .
After the music, Francis discusses Music City Baroque and other early music offerings in Nashville including the Nashville Early Music Festival coming up in 2017.
